Looking to get fit for real? Choose your own goals and dive right in. Those are the two big takeaways from new research published in the September issue of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) Cardiology.
A four-month study of 500 subjects participating in a gamified fitness program found that those whose daily step goals were self-chosen and implemented immediately saw significantly better results than a control group, and the increased activity levels were sustained over a two-month follow-up.
