Details. Exemplary attention to detail. That was the recurring theme that came to mind over and over on a recent test of Lululemon workout apparel. With our collegiate athletic issue gear singing its requiem we sought to test out Lululemon after hearing numerous people swear by it. Coming into the review skeptical but optimistic, we’re now summarily impressed.
Started in 1998 in Vancouver, Canada, Lululemon originally catered to the Yoga market. Since then they’ve seen incredible growth and we got hands on with four different items from Lululemon’s collection: the Form Jacket, Response Short, Metal Vent Tech SL, and Driver Polo. All are made of synthetics materials, but (somehow) retain a more natural feel unlike other synthetic workout gear we’ve had the chance to review. Each piece looks great, without looking too good, a difficult line to tread. And, the construction is top-notch. No hanging threads. No shoddy workmanship in sight. Here’s a break down of our two favorite pieces.
Response Short
Normally shorts, bathing suits, running shorts, or gym shorts without liners aren’t ideal. The Response shorts liner however proved to be more comfortable than even the best boxer briefs. Again, details are executed to perfection. The waist draw string has a bead of incredibly tacky rubber on it, so when you tie your shorts they actually stay that way. How has no one done this before?! A small zippered pocket at the bottom of the leg can hold an ID and keys while you’re running or working out. The fabric of the Response shorts have the aesthetics of ripstop nylon, but stretch just the right amount to accommodate any cross training activity.
