Gone but not forgotten, Pinner — Oskar Blues’s former session IPA — is on its way back from the grave. Only, it won’t be called “Pinner,” nor will the name on the can read “Oskar Blues.”

The iconic brewery, now a subsidiary of the Monster Beverage Corporation, announced a new IPA under its expanded Dale’s brand that also includes Pale Ale — one of the first craft beers to come in cans back in the early aughts.

Dale’s Easy IPA is an American IPA with tropical mix of Citra, El Dorado and Mosaic hops. It also has an ABV of 4.9 percent — the same amount as Pinner, which Oskar Blues discontinued in 2019.

According to the brewery, that decision has inspired a legion of calls to revive the session IPA, which it briefly did so in 2020 by way of the Pack-O-Bliss IPA variety pack. Dale’s Easy IPA, meanwhile, is a year-round release and available in its own 6-packs.

By any other name

As far as the name goes, the Easy IPA follows a precedent set by Dale’s, which Oskar Blues spun out into its own standalone brand last year. However, a series of Instagram videos playfully tease the connection to the Pinner of yesteryear.

Its relation was also corroborated by the brewery’s senior marketing manager Aaron Baker, who recently told Brewbound, “If you ask us, Easy IPA is Pinner.”

Perhaps the best thing to do, though, is simply judge the beer for yourself.

Dale’s Easy IPA is currently rolling out nationwide.
