Buffalo Trace Distillery makes plenty of iconic bourbons, each with its own cult-like collector following. But few, if any, in these ranks have translated their countless hours of research and discovery into a resource that all bourbon collectors can use, like Dominic Guglielmi.
Guglielmi is one of the world’s most preeminent collectors of Blanton’s Whiskey. Several years ago, we interviewed Guglielimi about his estimated $250,000 collection of Blanton’s Bourbon. Among the fascinating revelations was this:
“While I like Blanton’s, I recognize it’s likely not the best bourbon, and taste is subjective of course. I’m more of a collector than a Blanton’s connoisseur,” he shared candidly.
Whatever you may feel about collecting being the main motivation as a bourbon fan, we can still be grateful that his quest inspired Warehouse H, a website he developed to share his deep knowledge of Blanton’s releases – and eventually turned into a book of the same name just last summer.
Counting more than 50 unique Blanton expressions, the site, which is unaffiliated with Buffalo Trace, offers the most complete catalog of Blanton’s products on the internet, including information on special one-off bottlings, a brief history of the horse bottle stoppers and a comprehensive breakdown of Blanton’s bottle program with La Maison Du Whisky, Europe’s first single barrel bourbon program.
In Guglielimi’s words, “Warehouse H is dedicated to everything Blanton’s, and documents all known bottles produced to date.”
