Blade Show, the annual cutlery industry trade show that takes place in Atlanta every summer, is delayed until August but, as of now, still on. In 2018, Fox Knives worked with designer Jesper Voxnaes to produce the Suru, the blade that took home the event’s grand prize distinction of Knife of the Year. Coincidentally, a new version of that knife is currently on sale at The Drop for 55 percent off.

The Suru won the top prize at Blade Show 2018 because its ultralight skeletonized handle was the first to use a carbon fiber frame lock. Overall, the knife weighs just 2.04 ounces. The version that’s on sale eschews carbon fiber in favor of Ergal 7075 aluminum. That bumps its weight up to three ounces but allows for a new colorful blue finish.

Beyond the handle, nothing else about the Suru has changed. It has a drop-point blade that’s 2.32 inches long and its wielders can deploy it using either a thumbhole or flipper tab. To build more utility into his small-ish pattern, Voxnaes gave the Suru two choils (the unsharpened finger cutouts where the blade meets the handle) that allow for a firm and full-handed grip.

A note on Drop:
Drop is not like other online retailers. It’s a members-only site that requires signing up (all it takes is an email address). If you’re not a member, you can sign up here. When you place an order from Drop at a discounted price, you’re not buying from them directly. The site works by taking orders from consumers, then bulk ordering product at a discount directly from brands and other wholesalers. For more information on how Drop works, click here.
