Japanese brand Orient offers some of the best value in mechanical watches, of which the Ray II Automatic is a perfect example. Legible, water-resistant to 200m, topped with a mineral crystal, and packing an automatic movement with 40 hours of power reserve, this is a handsome and highly wearable diver with a 41.5mm case.
The Orient Ray II Automatic’s retail price of $335 is a pretty good value to begin with. But right now, you can get it on a bracelet with choices of dial colors for just $129. There are also options on a rubber strap for $5 less and a very cool all-black version for just $35 more.
Gear Patrol also recommends:
Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Diver ($125)
Seiko 5 Automatic SNZF17 Watch ($140)
Seiko Automatic Diver SKX007K ($269)
A note on Drop:
Drop is not like other online retailers. It’s a members-only site that requires signing up (all it takes is an email address). If you’re not a member, you can sign up here. When you place an order from Drop at a discounted price, you’re not buying from them directly. The site works by taking orders from consumers, then bulk ordering product at a discount directly from brands and other wholesalers. For more information on how Drop works, click here.
