Save 51%: By virtually any measure, Herman Miller’s Aeron task chair is one of, if not the, greatest desk chair of all-time. Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick’s design features supreme adjustability: seat height, arm height, lumbar support, reclining tension and forward and rear tilt locks. It was the first successful integration of airy mesh into task chair design. Shoot, it even earned a spot in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. Fair or not, any company that releases a high-end office chair today must bear comparison to the Aeron.

Today, the Aeron is 51 percent off on Ebay. These specific products are open-box models, which means they’re somewhere between new and used — so it’s fair to approach with caution (it may be worth contacting the seller before dropping close to $500). Save 25%: Au Sabot’s L’Armor pocket knife still has that function at its heart, but it adds an appropriate amount of flair too. The four-inch blade is made of Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, a well-rounded Swedish steel known for its hardness and toughness (it’s often used to make ice skate blades) and is available with handles made of palo santo, olive or horn. Blunt XL Umbrella
Save 40%: We love a good rain jacket but admit that they leave something to be wanted. They’re visibly technical in appearance, sweaty in warm weather and most won’t stop your thighs from getting wet. In towns and cities, we often prefer an umbrella, and our favorites are those made by a New Zealand-based company called Blunt. That’s because it uses a radial tensioning system to keep the fabric taught and blunted spokes that are easy on the eyes (in more than one way).

We like them so much that we stock them in the Gear Patrol Store, but right now, Blunt’s XL-sized umbrella, which the company tested in 72mph winds and weighs under two pounds, is 40% off at Massdrop. TCL 6 Series 4K TV (2018, 65-inch)
Save $180: March Madness is around the corner and if you’re looking for a 65-inch 4K TV to binge watch all the games, TCL’s 6-Series (2018) is a great one to consider. Not only is it a great 4K TV that supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision, but it’s also one of the few new-ish 65-inch 4K TVs that are under $1,000. In a recent review, CNET‘s David Katzmaier wrote “TCL’s 6 series is the best TV value we’ve ever reviewed.” Amazon just dropped the price of TCL’s 65-inch 6 Series to its lowest price ever. The $1,000 TV is on sale right now for $820 — that’s $180 off. If you’re at all interested in buying a 65-inch 4K TV without having to break the bank, this is as great as ever an opportunity to do just that.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11

Kershaw Leek Sale
Save 54%: Kershaw’s Leek pocket knife is unremarkable at first glance. It’s slim, with a three-inch, drop-point blade and a thumb stud for opening, like many everyday task-oriented blades. But not all knives are flash and flourish, and the unsuspecting Leek is innovative, iconic even, for the mechanism inside of it.

That small bit of machinery is called SpeedSafe, and it was developed by Ken Onion, a former US Marine and an industry-renowned knife designer who has created more than 30 patents for blade technologies. SpeedSafe was his remedy for restrictive laws against switchblades; it’s a fast and smooth mechanism that springs to life partway through the action of opening the blade (think of it as semi-automatic). If this sounds familiar, that’s because even though Onion designed the tech for Kershaw, many other companies have since adopted similar variations.

The Leek is great because it’s so simple, and if you’re in need of a solidly-reliable pocket knife for everyday use it’s a good option. Right now you can get a Leek with carbon fiber handles for 54 percent off at Massdrop.

Wilfa Coffee Brewer
Save $30: Norwegian designed Wilfa coffee makers are quick to brew, heat with precision and come with a few smart, convenient features. They’re also just gorgeous.

Released in 2017, the WSP-1A features simple flow control, a hot plate, detachable water reservoir (something that should be standard in every coffee maker) and owns both a Red Dot Design Award and iF World Design Guide award. Today, the brewer is marked down to $140 on Ebay — the lowest price we’ve seen for this model, and a far cry from the $400 retail price it launched with a couple of years back. —Will Price

Save 20%: If you want your boots to last for years, proper care and maintenance are crucial. Along with keeping them clean and oiled, you should make a point to fully dry them if they’re worn in damp conditions. While you could let them dry at room temperature, it’s actually better and faster to use a Peet dryer.

Both are solid workhorse training shoes, weighing in at 8.4 ounces. For my last half marathon training block, I rotated running in both for speed workouts and long runs, and ran the entire 13.1 miles in the Pegasus Turbos. If you’re running a shorter distance, say 5K or 10K, the Epic React Flyknit 2 is a bouncy choice — you’ll feel like you’re flying through the miles.
