Staub Dutch Oven
Save $185 Though frustratingly expensive, Staub Dutch ovens are among the most coveted in the cooking world. From a craftsmanship, prestige and performance perspective, the pots are on-par (if not better, for some people) than those made by Le Creuset.

More specifically, Staub’s ovens hold heat (they’re slightly heavier) and moisture (the lid is a significantly tighter fit) better than Le Creuset, which are good traits for stew and soup season, as consistent heat and moisture retention are critical to the finished dish’s taste.

Today on Food52, its 4-quart, $284 oven in matte black, cherry, turquoise or turmeric, is marked down to $99. The 4-quart is slightly smaller than the traditional 5.5- to 6-quart oven, but is plenty of room when cooking for two or three people.

Save $67: Tivoli Audio’s Model One ($150 $83) was released in the early 2000s and the company still sells the undoubtedly pretty tabletop radio. It has a handmade wood cabinet and a large tactile dial for switching between stations, and it looks like an antique. But the Model One also sounds wonderful for its size. It has a 3-inch full-range speaker and its tuner is actually able to strengthen signals, which is great for those who are in areas of poor reception.
