Eddie Bauer BC EverTherm Down Jacket Save $249: Last year, Eddie Bauer released Thindown, an innovative down insulation that arranges feathers in fabric-like sheets rather than loose clusters. Thindown, which debuted in the EverTherm jacket, eliminates the need for down jackets to use baffles and in turn, disposes of stitching and the cold spots it creates. This year, Eddie Bauer continued the development of Thindown with a new down jacket called the BC EverTherm. The jacket’s evolution goes back further than Thindown though; years ago, Seth Waterfall, a member of Eddie Bauer’s First Ascent athlete development team, approached the group with the idea to make a waterproof, down-filled hardshell jacket and was met with eye rolls. It would be too heavy, and down clusters are useless once they get damp.

Billy Reid Bond Peacoat Save 29%:In a scene from the 2012 Bond film Skyfall, leading man Daniel Craig stalks an assassin through a high-rise in Shanghai. Laco Pilot’s Watches Save $41: The flieger (or pilot’s watch) of WWII origins is a classic horological design, and it remains popular today. The North Face Ventrix Jacket Save $76: Last year, when The North Face revealed Ventrix, its first take on active insulation, we were skeptical. Active insulation, a form of synthetic insulation that’s meant to be worn during activity and is highly breathable, isn’t new — if anything, The North Face was quite late to the game. Kershaw Leek Pocket Knife Save 54%: Kershaw’s Leek pocket knife is unremarkable at first glance.
