Sony WH-1000XM2 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones
Save $52: When they launched in September, the Sony WH-1000XM2 headphones replaced the popular MDR-1000X in Sony’s wireless noise-canceling lineup. They look almost identical but the WH-1000XM2s boast a slightly grippier texture and come with a few extra features, including Sony’s Quick Attention — it allows users to lower the volume of music by putting their hand over the right earcup. Save 50%>This well-reviewed Duxtop model, which is half off its usual price today, is the savior of your dorm, apartment or otherwise tiny living space that doesn’t have a range or stove. What does induction mean? Plug it into the wall, set a temperature (100 to 460 degrees) and cook. It’s all of 14 inches wide and 11 inches deep.

Induction cooktops, for the uninitiated, operate via electrifying a coil inside the device, which in turn generates a magnetic field. The cooktop does not provide heat on its own — only when you place a pan (stainless steel or cast-iron, copper an aluminum don’t work) on the “burner” is heat generated by way of the magnetic field charging currents through the pan. What does that actually mean? The pan can heat and change temperature very quickly, per your input on the cooktop. Induction cooktops will bring water to a boil faster, be ready to sear faster and anything else that relies on the heating of a pan in cooking.

L.L. Bean Packaway Jacket
Save $125: In the wake of So you’ve developed a lust for Patagonia’s Nano Puff jacket; I don’t blame you. A few months ago I wrote my love letter to the puffy coat — how it accompanied me everywhere from the Tetons to the Andes and now lives dutifully by my side in Manhattan, far from any mountains. I recommitted to my vows by buying the anorak pullover version, too.
If you haven’t committed to the Nano Puff just yet, and price is the primary factor holding you back, there’s another option: L.L.Bean’s Primaloft Packaway Jacket, which is on sale today for just $75 when you use code SAVE25 at checkout from L.L. Bean’s site. I know what you’re thinking — it’s not Patagonia — and I get that. The Patagonia brand has a particular magnetism to it. But, like Patagonia, L.L.Bean is also a heritage outdoor brand that is, objectively, iconic.
Both the Nano Puff and the Packaway possess a 100% recycled polyester, water-repellent shell cut with two hand pockets and another interior chest pocket. The Packaway has an additional exterior chest pocket as well. Both have drawcord-equipped hems. The jackets are nearly identical. And while love and loyalty keep me true to the Nano Puff, I will admit that the addition of Cross Core insulation does give the Packaway one-up over Patagonia’s jacket.
And the Packaway has another advantage to it as well: it’s only $75 today, which is a full $125 cheaper than the Nano Puff, which costs $199. If you aren’t drawn to one brand over the other, or a specific color, the choice is an easy one to make. — Tanner Bowden

Coming in at 40.5mm in diameter and 11.5mm thick, it’s relatively compact for such an accessibly-priced automatic, and with a 50-meter water-resistance rating it won’t mind getting a little wet, either. Right now, Massdrop is offering the watch for $95, both in black and blue dial colors. That’s a massive drop from the watch’s $315 MSRP, though, more realistically, the watch consistently sells elsewhere online for around $130.
