Milo Dutch Oven
Save $10: The Milo Dutch Oven exists in a category of its own in the dutch oven market — its enamel coating, lid fit and warranty far exceed that of the Lodge Dutch Oven that’s $40 cheaper, and is on par with Le Creuset’s product that’s almost four times more expensive.

Though it compares well with Le Creuset’s dominating dutch oven in its cooking prowess, it’s not a knockoff of the iconic French brand. Milo’s oven is heavy — 12 pounds to be exact — putting it more in line with the weight of Staub (another French dutch oven maker). The added weight permits it greater heat retention and evenness in heating, which essentially means it won’t lose as much heat as a Le Creuset will when you drop a load of cold veggies in it. It does borrow what may be the subtlest of Le Creuset’s design in the light-colored interior, which allows you to monitor the status of browning meats much simpler than a dark interior.

PicoBrew Model C Homebrewer
Save $205: PicoBrew’s Model C homebrewer is probably the most hands-off home beer brewer money can buy. It’s essentially a Keurig, but spits out fresh beer instead of watery almost-coffee — pop in a PicoPak (a pre-portioned mix of hops, barley, various flavor agents), load in the appropriate amount of water and press go. The machine has a built-in self-cleaning function and all ancillary parts are dishwashable. You can select PicoBrew’s in-house PicoPak brews, or from its long list of beers from various craft breweries (21st Amendment, Rogue and Coronado Brewing among them). You can also make your own beer on PicoBrew’s website.
