The North Face Base Camp Duffels
Save 25%: The best trips often involve the unexpected, the spur-of-the-moment and the potentially-hazardous, and for that, a durable travel bag is required. Rolling luggage is hassle-free but transforms into unmanageable should a wheel go out. The duffel, however, is usually a safe bet.
The North Face has over 50 years of experience hauling gear to the world’s far-flung locales, so it’s no wonder that its Base Camp Duffel was not only one of the original laminated expedition bags, but also one of the few that has stood the test of time too. The Base Camp comes in a classic cylinder shape made of laminated ballistic nylon and opens wide to reveal a spacious main compartment and a mesh organizing pocket on the interior of the lid.
To fortify the bag against its wheeled rivals, The North Face built the Base Camp with removable backpack straps that provide a less-strenuous method of carrying. Daisy chain attachments, tie-down points and multiple handles are also prominent features — throw the bag on a roof rack, or the back of a mule, and all of your belongings will remain secure. That fancy phone-charging suitcase can’t do that.
Right now, the Base Camp Duffel is on sale at Zappos for 25 percent off in multiple sizes. — Tanner Bowden
