Kitchenaid-Coldbrew-gear-patrol-full-leadKitchenaid

KitchenAid Cold Brew Coffee Maker
Save 51%: The usual way of making cold brew at home — essentially putting a french press in the fridge overnight — is functional, but it yields so little coffee for all the time you’ve spent waiting for it to brew. KitchenAid’s massive Cold Brew Maker, launched earlier this year, is the antidote. It makes up to 14 servings in one batch, and all you have to do is throw grounds and water into its gaping vat and wait. Right now, Amazon slashed its price in half, so while cold brew isn’t exactly the most season-appropriate beverage this time of year, you’ll save a considerable amount of money if you buy now and wait to use it in the spring. — Andrew Connor

Danner-Sale-gear-patrol-full-leadDanner

Danner Boots
Save 30%: Winter is a time of rain, snow and even worse: slush, and whether you live in a sprawling urban center or a small mountain town, winter boots are essential for getting through the season with warm and dry feet. But decent winter boots don’t have to be massive chunks of rubber — you’re not living in the Arctic after all — and for most, a pair of sturdy leather hiking boots will do the trick just fine.

Danner constructs its boots with premium materials like full-grain leather, suede and Vibram rubber soles to take on the weather year round. Its collection offers a variety of styles, from the low-top Jag to the classic leather Mountain Light, that are equally suited to trails, towns and cities. Right now these boots and many more are available for 30% off their regular price — your feet will thank you time and again during the months of winter that remain. — Tanner Bowden

Santa-Cruz-Bikes-gear-patrol-full-leadSanta Cruz

Santa Cruz Bikes and More
Save up to 40%: Just because there’s snow on the ground (if you’re lucky) doesn’t mean you should push those happy memories of cruising trails on a mountain bike to the cellar of your mind. Winter can be long, which means that there’s plenty of time to get excited about riding again, but in case you need a little extra help, there is this deal on Santa Cruz bikes to stoke your coals with.

From now until the end of the year, Competitive Cyclist is offering up to 40% off on its remaining stock of Santa Cruz’s 2017 models. Unlike some gear, bikes are built to last years, and just because the sticker says “2017” you shouldn’t shy away from purchasing an older model — especially when it was just a handful of months ago that reviewers were raving about it (a statement true for many Santa Cruz models).

If that isn’t enough to get you wishing for winter’s end before it has even kicked into full gear, Competitive Cyclist is also offering 10% off your entire order now through Monday, December 18. So if you can’t commit to a new steed you can still pick up any essentials needed to keep you riding in the cold — just enter the code SAVE10NOW at checkout. — Tanner Bowden

PS4-Pro-gear-patrol-full leadSony

PlayStation 4 Pro
Save $50: Sony recently revealed that, over the past four years, it sold more than 70 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide. That figure includes both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro consoles, and it’s a major milestone, especially when you consider that in that same time period Microsoft’s Xbox One has sold less than half that (roughly 30 million). A big part of the PS4’s allure is its exclusive games. You can play wonderfully reviewed games like Uncharted 4, Persona 5, Bloodborne and Horizon: Zero Dawn on either PS4 console — but nowhere else. Plus, you can play all the blockbuster non-exclusive games as well, like Call of Duty, Assasin’s Creed, Grand Theft Auto and FIFA.

The PlayStation 4 is the most popular “new” gaming console you can buy. And if you’re shopping for one, here’s what else you need to know: the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro are very similar consoles — you can play the same exact same games. The difference is that the PS4 Pro is more powerful, outputting and upscaling video content at 4K resolution; it also supports HDR. Basically, the PS4 Pro is a little more expensive, but if you have a 4K TV, it’s the console you want. Normally, the PS4 Pro (1TB) goes for $400, but you can get it on Amazon for $50 less. No games are included. — Tucker Bowe

GoPro-Hero-5-6-gear-patrol-full-lead

GoPro HERO5 and HERO6 Cameras
Save up to $100: Action cameras have become ubiquitous from ski slopes to hiking trails to city centers — it seems as though everybody has one. But that hasn’t stopped GoPro from continually upping the ante on a yearly basis. Earlier this year it released its latest action camera, the HERO6 Black, and promised performance increases across the board — GoPro claims two times the performance — over its older (just over a year older) brother, the HERO5 Black.

The main improvements in the HERO6 come thanks to its new guts, the GP1 chip, which allows it to record faster framerates at higher resolutions. What does that really mean? Better-looking slow-motion footage, for starters. The camera can also be awakened with voice controls and comes with quick video editing software built-in.

There’s no doubt that the HERO6 is a great action camera, especially when it’s marked down by $50. But let’s remember that its predecessor was considered best-in-class just one year ago — it’s still waterproof, features voice and LCD touchscreen controls and it still packs more power than the everyday user will likely take advantage of. If you’re considering picking up either camera this holiday season, know that right now, the older HERO5 is two times better in one aspect — it’s $100 off. — Tanner Bowden
