Our favorite headlamp, Black Diamond’s Spot325, has a max lumen output of 325. That’s bright enough to navigate to the summit of Mt. Rainier in the dark. Still, some of our favorite EDC flashlights are even brighter, ranging from 400 on up to 2,000 lumens. But Nitecore’s Tiny Monster is by far the brightest flashlight we’ve ever come across — it’s lumen count hits a whopping 10,000 — and it’s currently $75 off.
To put that into perspective, that’s brighter than most car headlights (by a lot). You’d expect the Tiny Monster to be, well, a far larger creature than it is. Its rectangular form is 4.3 inches long and 1.6 inches wide — small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Nitecore made it using aerospace-grade aluminum in a construction that weighs only 8.7 ounces and is fully waterproof.
The flashlight doesn’t shine at that ridiculous max setting all the time, though. It has multiple modes, including an ultralow three-lumen setting as well as 100, 300 and 400–2,000 options. The 10,000-lumen beam is available as a burst that automatically dims down after seven seconds, which is smart because otherwise, its USB-C rechargeable battery would burn up in an instant — brawn, and brains; impressive.
A note on Drop:
Drop is not like other online retailers. It’s a members-only site that requires signing up (all it takes is an email address). If you’re not a member, you can sign up here. When you place an order from Drop at a discounted price, you’re not buying from them directly. The site works by taking orders from consumers, then bulk ordering product at a discount directly from brands and other wholesalers. For more information on how Drop works, click here.
