When SOG released the Twitch more than a year ago, it signaled that it was willing to stray from the all-black aesthetic that defines many of its knives to win over the EDC crowd. Colorful, anodized handles and minimal blade shapes may not seem like a big leap until you consider that SOG’s history lies in Bowie-style military fixed blades.
The Twitch doesn’t wholly abandon SOG’s Special Forces roots, though. With a 2.6-inch drop-point blade, it’s undoubtedly smaller in stature than a Bowie knife, but it uses reliable AUS-8 steel (commonly used to make machetes) as well as SOG’s fast assisted opening tech. It’s a high-quality and affordable upgrade to any everyday kit, and right now, the second generation of the knife is also nearly 20 percent off.
