Goruck, a company founded by former US Special Forces soldier Jason McCarthy, is best known for its military-inspired everyday backpacks (its GR1 is our top pick in the category). Last fall, it released its first piece of footwear: the MACV-1, a boot inspired by those worn by army operatives during the Vietnam War, updated for modern everyday and travel use.
Goruck designed the MACV-1 to be lightweight and durable with materials like premium full-grain leather, 1000-denier Cordura and a robust footbed. McCarthy enlisted Paul Litchfield, the inventor of the Reebok Pump, and Richard Rice, a Special Forces veteran, to get the boot to the middle ground between modern and military footwear. The boot is currently on sale — for the first time that we’ve seen — for nearly $100 off.
