The Optoma UHL55 is a portable 4K projector that was released in the fall of 2018. It’s capable of projecting a 150-inch image and it normally costs $1,500, but Amazon just lowered the price by quite a lot — for the first time, you can purchase the Optoma UHL55 for under $1,000.

Other than being fairly small and able to play 4K content, the Optoma UHL55 has a bunch of other things going for it. It’s a smart projector that works with either Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant; you can use voice commands to power the projector on and off, change volume change the input. The 4K projector has an integrated Android OS, so you can access apps like Netflix, Youtube TV or Spotify right from the projector (no need to connect a computer or your phone). Also, it can function as a portable Bluetooth speaker, in case you just want to listen to music.

Because $1,000 is still quite a sizable purchase, we encourage you to read some other reviews of the Optoma UHL55. Check some out below:

• “The UHL55 has a lot of unique features, but it does come at a high price and lacks versatility when it comes to video sources. 4K impresses, so does Alexa voice control, and we love the option to stream to its speakers from a phone via Bluetooth. It might not be the best projector to ever cross the threshold of our living room, but add the UHL55’s fresh compact design, decent built-in audio and a content-savvy user interface, and overall we’re impressed if not quite head-over-heels for it.” — Jamie Carter, TechRadar

• “My impressions might come off as mixed, but I quite like this little projector. I’m baffled by the Android implementation and I wish it were brighter, but the fact remains that it’s one of the only projectors with its particular combination of features. The image quality is really good, voice control is neat, and I’d rather have a wonky version of Android than no version at all, as long as it gets the job done.” — Napier Lopez, TNW
