The MacBook Air Just Got Better and Cheaper Than Ever

Both Apple’s entry-level laptops have been updated and discounted.

Apple has quietly updated and discounted both its MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro lines, making it a great time to buy either one of these entry-level laptops. It’s also worth mentioning that Apple has completely killed its 12-inch MacBook, which seemed inevitable as it hadn’t been updated in two years; the MacBook Air is now the thinnest and lightest “new” laptop that Apple sells.

The 2019 MacBook Air

The new MacBook Air now has True Tone display technology, which allows it to automatically brighten or dim depending on the ambient light in the room; this is designed to help colors look more natural, but it’s also a feature that can be turned off, of course. The price of the new MacBook Air has been dropped by $100, too, meaning it now starts at just $1,099 (or $999 if you’re a college student). It should also be noted that the new MacBook Air will have redesigned keyboards, which Apple introduced this past May.

The 2019 MacBook Pro

The 13-inch MacBook Pro has been updated more considerably. First of all, it’s now impossible to buy a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a row of function keys — everyone will now have a Touch Bar. Apple has given these MacBook Pros newer, better and faster Intel processors, as well as Touch ID so you can unlock them with just your finger. Just like the new MacBook Airs, these new 13-inch MacBook Pros will have newer updated keyboards. The price of the new MacBook Pro has been dropped by $100, too; they start at $1,299 (or $1,099 if you’re a college student) instead of the previous $1,399.
