If you like the idea of a chronograph but don’t necessarily want something mechanical, the Seiko Recraft series is a good option. It makes use of the Seiko cal. V175 quartz movement, which is also solar-powered — once fully charged, this baby will run for a full 6 months.

The Recraft features a fun, 1970s-inspired aesthetic, with a 43.5mm steel case with screw-down case back, 22mm lugs, 100m of water resistance and a Hardlex crystal. It’s got a silver and radiant blue dial with an outer tachymeter scale, a rehaut with 1/5th-second increments and three sub-registers: running seconds at 9 o’clock; a 60-minute totalizer at 6 o’clock and a 24-hour indicator at 3 o’clock. The hands are coated in LumiBright for easy viewing in low-light conditions.

The Recraft chronograph ships on a black nylon NATO with blue and orange stripes that matches the dial colors nicely. For under $200, this may be the perfect fun summer chronograph.
