The Fluance RT81, currently on sale at Amazon, is one of our favorite entry-level turntables for its friendly combination of good looks and ease of use — for example, it has a built-in preamp so you just need some bookshelf speakers in order to play records. You can also turn off the preamp in case you want to add separate components and build out your system down the road. Unlike the cheaper RT80, the RT81 is made of solid wood to cut down on vibrations and comes with a T95E Audio Technica cartridge.
