Right now, however, this handsome example of Japanese quality and value is priced closer to the brand’s more basic fare at $240, down from an MSRP of $690. With sturdy build quality and a reliable in-house automatic Orient 40N52 movement, it offers classic design and proportions at 38.5mm wide and 13mm thick with a tall domed mineral crystal.
At 12 o’clock on the dial is an indicator for the movement’s 40-hour power reserve, which is elegantly integrated and adds some visual interest — as well as being genuinely useful to assure your watch is fully wound. Water-resistant to 50m, this is a solid option for everyday or dressy occasions. Available in four iterations, the version with contrasting blue hands costs just $10 more with its steel bracelet at $250, and there is a version with a gold-colored for $265.
