Of the many ways you could make coffee, the French press is the simplest. Unlike brewing coffee with a pour-over or in a drip machine, the process is the same across the spectrum of French presses: pour hot water over beans, push lever down, wait. Because of this, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to invest in pricier presses (unless you understand you’re paying for aesthetic and not performance).
Instead, go cheap — Bodum’s one-liter plastic French press is not a looker, but it does its job just as well as brewers two, three and four times the price. The Bodum Brazil French Press is on sale for all of $10 today on Amazon.
