Called gimmicky by some and innovative by others, Finex cast-iron skillets still cook in the same manner as your usual cast-iron skillet. Its pan is cut into an octagon with hard corners that aim to work like better pour spouts (they’re useful for baking, too) and its steel coil-wrapped handle is meant to stay cooler for longer than the usual iron handle.
The shape, handle and steep price are defining characteristics of the Portland company’s weirdly divisive skillet. Today on Massdrop, that price is 25 percent less steep — a cool $55 cheaper for the 10-inch skillet.
