I’ve been wearing two pairs of Swims for over a month and they’re excellent. So excellent, actually, that I’m eyeballing the brand’s extended Half-Off Cyber Monday sale like a greedy hawk. You should too – there’s a lot here for connoisseurs of technical apparel, footwear and color. The brand was begun over a decade ago in Norway, with the introduction of a modern galosh. Swims boasts a bold aesthetic that doesn’t take itself seriously but definitely takes the elements seriously. Scandinavia can be a wet, cold place; so can New York, where I’m based. Which is why the shoes and boots are especially appealing to me.
The Motion Cap Toe ($225 $113) has been my go-to office shoe every time the weather gets cloudy. It’s water-resistant, for one, but its design and comfort are totally on-point. I love the saddle shoe look, the bright detailing and light weight. They move like sneakers and take puddles like a champ. When it’s looked a bit more dreadful out, I turn to the Motion Wing Tip Boot (I have a blue pair, but this color combo is half off: $275 $138), which is an ultra-modern take on a classic brogue. It’s also totally waterproof. There are boat shoes and sneakers in the collection (and sale) too, all of which offer technical performance and high comfort.
Also on sale is much of Swim’s outwear and bags. Insulated shirt jackets ($230 $115), water-resistant totes ($140 $70), shorts, jackets and more. All half off, all less than subtle and all more than ready for a business-very-casual autumn.
