To nobody’s surprise, Amazon is going big in on holiday deals this year. The company is heavily discounting all its smart speakers, and that includes the Echo Dot, Echo (second-gen), Echo Plus (second-gen), Echo Spot and Echo Show (second-gen). And they aren’t small deals. The Echo Dot is over 50-percent off, dropping from $50 to just 24, and you can get $40 off Amazon’s highest-end speaker, the Echo Plus (2nd hen), and its nifty smart alarm clock, the Echo Spot, respectively.
As a quick refresher, Amazon recently revamped its line of smart speakers this fall. The new Echo Dot is louder and sounds better, plus it’s now wrapped in fabric so it looks much nicer. The new Echo and Echo Plus also share this cosmetic upgrade as well as improved sound quality over their predecessors, but the Echo Plus also has a Zigbee hub built-in, so it can actually control things a greater number of smart home devices, such as smart sensors. The Echo Spot and the Echo Show fall under the new category of “smart displays,” with both being able to play shows, live TV and sports with Hulu or Amazon Prime subscriptions. They can also video call anybody with another Echo Show or Echo Spot, or anybody using the Alexa app. If you have a bunch of Echo speakers – be it an Echo Dot, Echo or Echo Show – you can configure them all in a multi-room audio system (here’s how) so you have music playing throughout the house.
