Now’s a Great Opportunity to Buy Steak Knives Cheaply

Straight out of a tiny village in the south of France, Laguiole knives are iconic. And now a set of them is under $30.

First things first, these are not genuine Laguiole knives. Genuine Laguiole knives, though the shape is mostly the same, must be made in France and are typically quite a bit more expensive.

These are Laguiole-style steak knives, meaning they borrow the iconic early 19th-century aesthetic developed the tiny French village of Laguiole, and are, rather helpfully, a bit less delicate than the real thing. The serrated, stainless steel blades cut through steak well, are dishwasher-safe and, because the handles are fully sealed, stand up to frequent use well (also, a set of 4 is 30 percent off on Wayfair).

For those interested in the most genuine versions of Laguiole knives still made today, check out Forge de Laguiole and Coutellerie & ForgesHonoré Durand, Laguiole, as both are still made in the village the blade style was invented in and by appropriately trained artisans.
