You’ve probably come into contact with Benchmade’s Griptilian before, even if you haven’t been aware of it. Benchmade is easily one of the best-respected knife manufacturers in operation, and its simple drop-point folder is one of its most established blades. Originally designed by custom maker Mel Pardue, the Griptilian has since expanded into a family of practical pocket knives that can be configured with various blade shapes, finishes, types of steels, handle materials and colors.
The Mini Griptilian is the more pocket-friendly version of Pardue and Benchmade’s classic. It’s modified drop-point blade features two thumb studs for assisted opening and is just under three inches in length. It features Benchmade’s AXIS locking mechanism and a pocket clip that can be realigned for left or right carry. It’s a slightly smaller version that stands up to the reputation of the original, and it’s currently on sale for 20 percent off at Backcountry — use the code CAMPCLIMB20 at checkout.
