As it stands right now, Sony is pretty decisively winning the console wars, boasting nearly 38 million units sold (to Xbox’s 22). That being said, between the PlayStation 5’s high price and manufacturing shortages, there are plenty of big-time gamers that still haven’t had a chance to score one of these current-gen consoles. Well, the shortages appear to be over now and we’ve got some even better news: Sony has put the PS5 on sale in earnest for the first time.

The discount, which applies to the physical disc edition of the console (as opposed to the digital-only one) amounts to $50 (or 10 percent), which drops the price down to $449 at numerous retailers across the web, including both Walmart and Amazon. And while that might not seem like a ton, it does amount to about the price of a new game — including new releases like Remnant 2 (a possible contender for game of the year), Street Fighter 6, and even some older best-sellers (like Hogwarts Legacy). Don’t count on this discount sticking around for long, however — it ends after August 19.
