The New York Times‘s gadget review site, Wirecutter, named the Canon PowerShot G9 X as the best sub-$500 compact point-and-shoot camera. Released back in 2015, the G9 X has a number of impressive features — a 1.0-inch high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, an f/2.0-4.9 lens, a DIGIC 6 image processor, built-in wifi and a touchscreen display — that many compact cameras in its price range lack. It’s an all-around great travel camera, plus it looks pretty cool in a vintage sort of way, and it’s now available at an all-time low price.
The G9 X normally goes for $400 on Canon’s website. You can find it for $379 on Amazon, in both black and silver versions. The real coup, however, is if you use the promo code GFLASHDEAL on Canon’s website, you can snag the G9 X for $270 — that’s an extra $130 off.
The G9 X Mark II is the newer model of G9 X. It’s an incremental upgrade, admittedly, with a slightly better image processor and improved Bluetooth connectivity. The Canon G9 X Mark II is available on Amazon for $449.
