Sony recently revealed that, over the past four years, it sold more than 70 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide. That figure includes both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro consoles, and it’s a major milestone, especially when you consider that in that same time period Microsoft’s Xbox One has sold less than half that (roughly 30 million). A big part of the PS4’s allure is its exclusive games. You can play wonderfully reviewed games like Uncharted 4, Persona 5, Bloodborne and Horizon: Zero Dawn on either PS4 console — but nowhere else. Plus, you can play all the blockbuster non-exclusive games as well, like Call of Duty, Assasin’s Creed, Grand Theft Auto and FIFA.
The PlayStation 4 is the most popular “new” gaming console you can buy. And if you’re shopping for one, here’s what else you need to know: the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro are very similar consoles — you can play the same exact same games. The difference is that the PS4 Pro is more powerful, outputting and upscaling video content at 4K resolution; it also supports HDR. Basically, the PS4 Pro is a little more expensive, but if you have a 4K TV, it’s the console you want. Normally, the PS4 Pro (1TB) goes for $400, but you can get it on Amazon for $50 less. No games are included.
