As of this story’s publication here in July, 2021 is a bit more than halfway over. We’ve driven some spectacular vehicles already like the Porsche 911 Turbo, the new Ford Bronco and new hybrid versions of the Jeep Wrangler and the Ford F-150.
But 2021 still has more to offer. Here are ten vehicles we should be able to drive — and tell you about — before the end of the year.

10 Cars We’re Excited to Drive for the First Time in 2021
We’ve already driven the Bronco and several cool Jeeps, but 2021 still has a lot more to come.

Beneath that revised sheetmetal lies a whole new engine for the BRZ: a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four. (Presumably, the same basic engine found in turbocharged form in the Ascent, Outback and Legacy, just shorn of its snail.) It snaps out 224 horsepower, a 9 percent increase over the outgoing model’s 205; torque is up 15 percent over the old car’s 156 lb-ft.

The 2022 Ford Maverick is a 40-mpg hybrid
And that’s not an optional engine; that’s the base version. The Ford Maverick comes standard with a 2.5-liter inline-four hybrid powertrain, delivering 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. Ford predicts that should be good for around 37 miles per gallon in the combined cycle; drive in the city alone, and that should climb to around 40 mpg.
At launch, the hybrid engine only comes paired with front-wheel-drive, and the only gearbox that links engine to wheels is an electronic CVT. If you really want all-wheel-drive and the hybrid, though, it might be added down the line; as Baumbick put it, “we’ll be looking at the opportunity down the road to expand the offering.”

Get used to the sight of those taillamps, because the EQS will be quick
The EQS will offer two powertrains at launch. The EQS 480+ uses a single rear-mounted motor to produce 329 horsepower, while the EQS 580 4Matic packs all-wheel-drive thanks to an electric motor by each axle and a maximum power of 516 hp. Mercedes says it’ll be capable of doing the 0-60-mph dash in 4.1 seconds, which is pretty damn impressive for a giant electric luxury sedan — but if that’s still not enough for you, Mercedes says a 630-hp performance version is coming soon. EQ AMG, anyone?

Honda Civic hatchback may be a bit of a misnomer
So, you’ve heard of crossover coupes. Honda gave the Civic hatchback a “sporty, Euro-inspired” coupe look. The major distinction with the also coupe-inspired sedan will be the shortened rear overhang, making the Civic hatch about 4.9 inches shorter. The hatchback will also offer a hatch and substantially more cargo space.
