If you think that a custom bike build out of China involves less-than-desirable quality and copious amounts of lead, it’s time to take a look at a Beijing-based creation: the Bandit9 Hephaestus (~$13,635). Based on the 400cc Honda Bros (so named in Asia for the 400cc and 650cc “brothers” Honda bikes), the Hephaestus’ body is truly impressive — forged from all stainless steel, including the tank, cowl and fender. Even the gas cap is made of the stuff. The custom frame is also accentuated by side covers, exhaust, muffler and turn signals that have been designed and fabricated by the Bandit9 custom bike shop, so you know the Hephaestus isn’t some Frankensteined job birthed by a crazed creator screaming “It’s alive!” behind closed doors; Bandit9 prides themselves on original artistry and quality bike builds that stand out in the field of custom motorcycles. Hopefully, they will also stand for larger displacement engines sometime in the future. Not all of us Asian guys are light.
