So it is with the 1974 Ducati 750SS Corsa, owned by former bike racer, Carlo Saltarelli. Going up for auction in Monaco this spring, along with the rest of his illustrious two-wheeled collection, the 750SS Corsa has what all true collectors crave — a solid racing history. In the 1974 and 1975 racing seasons, Saltarelli took this very bike to podium finishes, making this 750SS ultra-special. With numerous upgrades, including lightweight pistons, cams and clutch, twin Dell’Orto carburettors, Borrani wire wheels and sweet Marzocchi suspension components, the bike was built to move with haste and handle with aplomb. And the red and white livery is just about perfect for this vintage racer, we think. Though it will be sold without reserve, it should probably be ridden with some.
