Ever since Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman made The Long Way Down, the BMW R1200 GS went from a well-known industry juggernaut of an adventure motorcycle to the pop culture mascot for the entire segment. And it’s not by mistake, either. Granted, it’s one of the biggest and heaviest adventure bikes out there, but few other motorcycles can soak up the miles (paved or not) quite like the GS. This R1200 GS Rallye goes one step further with all the extras and add-ons you’d want on the quintessential adventure tourer, not to mention its badass Alpine white over Magma red frame paint scheme with BMW Motorrad graphics.
As far as any essential upgrades go, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything else to squeeze on to this R1200 GS. The factory-installed onboard computer, GPS and heated grips are just the tip of the iceberg. The fender extensions, guards, Zega Pro aluminum pannier set, oil-cooler grille, frame protectors, and exhaust flap cover all come courtesy of Tourtech-USA while the color-matched crash bar comes from AltRider. Handlebar risers, side stand extension pads, oversized foot pegs, and a Bob’s Wrist Rest throttle controller top off the list.
The sale also includes all the original documentation and receipts for all the scheduled service work and modifications which total well over $7,000, and that’s on top of the Rallye’s original price tag of $19,045. The legendary motorcycle sits with a current bid of $9,000 which is one hell of a deal, by any metric.
