Tears were shed a couple years back when Kia canceled the Stinger sedan. The Stinger GT model was perhaps the best affordable performance sedan on the market — arguably a Porsche Panamera for half the price. It earned critical acclaim when it debuted in 2017, coming in as a close finalist for North American Car of the Year. But it was never a massive seller in a segment where badges matter more than they do in SUVs.
However, according to a report from Korean Car Blog, an exciting, all-electric Kia Stinger replacement is on the way. It should be called the EV8; here’s what we know about it so far.
The Kia EV8 will reportedly use a new EV platform
Hyundai’s E-GMP skateboard platform outstrips many competitors, but the conglomerate is already working on a next-generation eM platform that outperforms it. Per Korean Car Blog, the platform will debut in 2025 with the new Genesis GV90 SUV. The EV8 will be the first Kia model to get it.
The Kia EV8 should pack more power than the EV6 GT
The Kia EV6 GT is a beast with its 576 horsepower, but the EV8 will pack even more in top spec. According to Korean Car Blog, the top version will put out 603 horsepower. There will also be a single motor (214 hp) and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (429 hp) version.

And the Kia EV8 should deliver a ton of electric range
Per Korean Car Blog, the EV8 will use a massive 113.2 kWh battery pack, larger than the EV9’s 99.8 kWh. The estimated top range will be between 435 and 497 miles under the WLTP standard, which should be roughly between 388 and 443 miles in EPA testing.
When will the Kia EV8 arrive?
The Korean Car Blog has the EV8 starting production in Korea in 2026. That number is corroborated by Automotive News, which has been projecting a new midsize EV to arrive in 2026. There’s no word on whether it will be available in the United States yet. But there’s no reason to believe it won’t.
