If you’re at all familiar with the Ineos Grenadier, you probably know that it’s an exceptionally capable off-roader inspired by the original Land Rover but with some key modern upgrades. Well, at last year’s Goodwood Festival, the brand kicked it up a notch with an even more kitted-out concept version.

While it’s unclear if Ineos ever expected to put it into production, the response and inquiries were so strong and numerous that the brand simply couldn’t say no. That concept was the Ineos Grenadier Trialmaster x Letech, and it’s now available to order.

No, that’s not a Land Rover. It’s a fully kitted Ineos Grenadier.

Conquer almost anything, two ways

Like its inspiration, this take on the Grenadier is available in two versions: a wagon and a pickup. While the pickup offers more external space, they’re otherwise quite similarly equipped, especially where it counts. That starts with their banner feature: the Letech portal axle system.

Without getting too deep in the weeds, this is a technical off-road marvel that gives the vehicles a hell of a lot more capability and ground clearance — a whopping 17.7 inches, to be exact. That’s over 7.3 inches more than the standard model.

If you need the extra storage space, the pickup version isn’t too much of a price hike.

This increases its ability to properly handle uneven terrain and even boosts its fording ability, raising its wading depth to over 3.5 feet. Mate that system to 18” Hutchinson Industries forged beadlock alloy wheels and chunky 37” BFGoodrich T/A Km3 mud tires, and this overlander is, as the brand puts it, “unstoppable.”

However, if you were worried that this beast is only capable in an off-road context — and that you might have to figure out how to haul it from place to place — worry not, it’s also completely street legal. I’m not saying you should make it your daily driver … but you could.

Unstoppable inside and out

The portal axle system is only one part of the equation with this maxxed-out Grenadier. It also comes with a bevy of other standard equipment — inside and out — to help you tackle just about any adventure in relative comfort.

For instance, the SUVs also come with Letech rear ladders with jerry can mounts, an upgraded brake system, a roof rack for additional external storage, a light bar, a spare wheel, a front winch system, a scuba intake, front and rear locking differentials … the list goes on and on. And that’s just the outside.

Inside, you’ll find a plush interior with heated front seats (and Recaro seats throughout), pop-out safari windows, a premium sound system, interior utility rails (for cargo mounting) and so forth. Like the outside, the list is pretty exhaustive.

Calling this an overlander is perhaps not doing it total justice, as this SUV is so much more. If it had treads instead of wheels, calling it a luxury tank wouldn’t be entirely out of the question.
