So far, we’ve seen Ineos — you know, the company a British billionaire started out of spite because Land Rover wouldn’t sell him the parts to build more original Defenders — launch the Grenadier SUV and announce its first electric SUV, the Fusilier. But the brand is also planning to dive into the pickup world.
We already knew a truck counterpart to the Grenadier, the Grenadier Quartermaster, is on the way. Now, however, Ineos revealed something that could make a massive splash in the off-road camping world: a chassis cab version of its forthcoming pickup. The Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab will have the five-passenger double cab and the Quartermaster’s extended wheelbase, but leave the ladder chassis bare for specialist applications.
The Quartermaster Chassis Cab looks rad as hell
The Grenadier looks a lot like an O.G. Land Rover Defender. The Fusilier has more than a passing resemblance to the Mercedes G-Wagen. The Quartermaster pickup? It looks like the legendary workhorse 70 Series Land Cruiser pickups Toyota never offered in America.
The Quartermaster Chassis Cab will be marketed at camper builders
Ineos is targeting “specialist conversion companies” for use in areas like fire and police work. However, the brand also notes the potential for builders to adapt the vehicle for “leisure use.”
