The 2025 Toyota Crown Signia: Everything You Need to Know

“Crown” has become a full-blown sub-brand, folks.

Last year, Toyota brought the new version of the Crown to America in (quasi) sedan form. But that’s old news already. Here in fall 2023, Crown has become something of a Bronco-style sub-brand here in the States.

On the brink of the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota has just unveiled its second American Crown model — or fourth, when you factor in that Corolla and Camry both mean “crown” in other languages — the Crown Signia. Toyota says “Signia” comes from the word insignia, andis “a nod to (the Crown’s) importance” as it transitions into crossover-dom for the first time.

Here’s what you need to know about the all-new 2025 Toyota Crown Signia.

You may have forgotten the Venza; we often do. Toyota revived the nameplate in 2020 as sort of a less funky, more upscale and hybrid-only take on the RAV4. The Crown Signia is Toyota reracking on that idea for 2025.

What engine does the Crown Signia have?

The Crown Signia uses the “Toyota Hybrid Electric Vehicle Powertrain.” It’s a 2.5-liter inline-four hybrid with dual electric motors and a CVT. It cranks out a combined 243 horsepower — a similar output to the engine’s tune in the Sienna and Highlander Hybrid.

The Crown Signia comes with all-wheel-drive standard and can tow up to 2,700 pounds.

What kind of fuel economy does the Crown Signia deliver?

This “HEV” is Toyota’s more efficient setup for SUVs. We don’t have official EPA numbers for the Crown Signia yet. But Toyota estimates it will get around 36 mpg combined.

Toyota has not revealed the cubic footage for the Crown Signia’s cargo bay yet, but it does have a neat trick to make the most of it. The second row seats fold flat, and on top of that, you can fold out a panel to offer a flat 6.5-foot floor for longer items.

How much does the Toyota Crown Signia cost?

Toyota has not provided pricing yet for the Crown Signia; that will be revealed closer to the sales launch next year.
