The midsize truck segment has been booming. The Toyota Tacoma — one of the 10 best-selling vehicles in America last year — has never been more popular. Ford not only returned the Ranger to the American market but has gone all-in with a new V6-powered Ranger Raptor. But Ram has been a surprising holdout thus far.
Stellantis does offer a midsize competitor, the Jeep Gladiator. But we don’t yet have an offering from the designated truck brand, Ram, that’s smaller than the (not very small at all) 1500 pickup. That could be about to change. Ram is reportedly considering a new midsize pickup launch for 2026. Here’s what we know about it.
Will the Ram midsize truck be electric?

It looks that way. Per Automotive News, the Ram midsize truck would be electric. However, Ram could offer a combustion version alongside it. Ram opting to make its midsize truck electric could explain why it has taken so long to come to market.
Is this electric truck different than the Ram Rampage?

Ram has not confirmed its future product plans yet. But the reporting suggests that Ram will offer both compact (unibody Ford Maverick rival) and midsize (body-on-frame Tacoma rival) trucks. According to The Drive, the unibody truck — perhaps drawing heavy inspiration from the Ram Rampage released abroad — could launch in America as soon as 2023.
