The 2024 Ford F-150: Everything You Need to Know

New face. New options. Same tried and true capability.

The Ford F-Series has been America’s best-selling vehicle for more than 40 years. Ford frequently touts how the F-Series revenue stream exceeds that of blue-chip corporations like Starbucks and Netflix. With that success comes the tremendous pressure to maintain it. So, even though the 2024 model year is only a mid-cycle refresh, the brand is still delivering some key upgrades to help Ford’s full-size truck stay a step ahead of vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado, the Ram 1500 and the Toyota Tundra.

Here’s everything you need to know about changes for the 2024 Ford F-150.

The 2024 Ford F-150 has a new face

Ford tweaked the front end of the new F-150. The grille treatments now run “coast to coast” across the entire vehicle width; call it an aesthetic nod to the seventh-generation F-150. LED headlights are standard. And trucks receive a new “digitally inspired” Ford logo using white instead of chrome.

The 2024 Ford F-150 has a new Pro Access Tailgate

Ford promises to “end the tailgate wars” with the F-150’s new Pro Access Tailgate. It’s a swing door from the middle of the tailgate with three opening positions up to 100 degrees (and one that keeps the door from banging on the trailer hitch). It offers an additional 24 inches of standing reach into the bed and easy access to the new standard lockable bed storage box in the lower left corner of the bed.

The 2024 Ford F-150 engine lineup stays mostly the same

Ford didn’t make any major powertrain changes. The significant shift is the deletion of the base 3.3-liter V6. The 325 horsepower 2.7-liter V6 used in the Ford Bronco is now the base engine.

Ford did not alter the PowerBoost hybrid for greater efficiency. But the brand is aiming to increase the take rate for it from the current 10 percent. Ford is doubling production of hybrids and introducing cost parity with the 3.5-liter V6.

The F-150 now offers a modular front bumper

Both the F-150 Raptor and F-150 Tremor now offer a modular front bumper. This can be used for add-ons such as auxiliary lighting or the Ford Performance Winch Kit with a 12,000-pound Warn winch. Unlike the Bronco Everglades, the latter has cameras and sensors integrated into the winch on the F-150. So, you can add the winch while still getting access to a front camera and Ford’s ADAS systems.

The F-150 Raptor can be fitted with dual live valve shocks

For 2024, Ford offers enhanced dual live valve shocks as an option on the F-150 Raptor. The dual live valve shocks add continuously variable rebound control to the mix, which Ford says enhances stability and performance on road and off. These shocks are available on Raptors with the larger 37-inch tires.

Ordering an F-150 should be easier (albeit less customized)

Ford has been looking to cut costs. The F-150 is reducing production complexity by about 90% over the 2023 model. One key to doing so? Making some optional items — 12-inch touchscreen, LED headlights, tow hitch — standard and putting others in packages rather than making them available a la carte.
