Let’s just say that 2020 has not gone how we planned. We on Gear Patrol’s Motoring Desk have seen auto shows and press trips canceled and plenty of exciting product launches postponed. But on the bright side, we’ve also still been fortunate enough to drive a number of awesome cars — albeit on roads much closer to home. Here are 10 of our favorite so far in 2020.
The Sonata hybrid is remarkably fuel-efficient, earning up to 52 mpg combined in Blue trim level form; but unlike many hybrids on the market, fuel efficiency is just one of its many features. It’s also a sophisticated, spacious, and exceedingly comfortable car in its own right — and best of all, like a lot of Hyundai Group offerings of late, it’s a great value, starting for less than $30,000.
With all that technology, it’s astounding how natural and fluid the new 911 Turbo S feels from behind the wheel. The steering, the gas, the brakes — all the controls feel directly wired into your body.
There may be a bigger Defender 130 coming, as well
Motor Trend also says, as expected, that Land Rover will revive the larger Defender 130 to compete with the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and Jeep Grand Wagoneer in the lucrative three-row luxury SUV segment.
Unlike the previous Defender 130, the new version will allegedly use the same wheelbase as the Defender 110 — which is 119 inches, for the record. That would mean the stretched body would offer more third-row and cargo space.
