This Is Arguably the Best-Looking F-150 Ford Sells Now

The new Ford F-150 Lobo package brings a bevy of menacing street-style updates to America’s workhorse truck.

Let’s be honest. Trucks long ago transitioned from necessary, need-centered vehicles into outright lifestyle symbols, at least for most owners living in the U.S. There’s just simply no way Ford could sell a staggering 730,000 F series trucks in 2024 alone without this being the case.

As such, I have zero issues with the Blue Oval offering any package options for the F-150 that don’t involve performance enhancements, even if other motoring journalists don’t share that sentiment.

The desire to distinguish your ride from the ocean of other F-150s on the road makes total sense to me.

And while I’m always in awe of the robust aftermarket for F-150 parts and enhancements, a vast majority of car buyers simply don’t have the time, know-how, passion or money to meticulously tweak the look of their truck after driving it off the dealer lot.

That’s a problem the newly revealed Ford F-150 Lobo edition is clearly meant to solve.

Call It a Street Truck, Or Simply Badass

As much of the automotive media landscape has been quick to point out, and even Ford readily embraces, the F-150 Lobo is a clear nod to street truck culture, just like the Maverick Lobo before it, which was revealed in the summer of 2024.

While I’m far from an expert on the automotive subculture, I know enough to say that style and speed (typically in that order) are key points of emphasis.

And the new F-150 Lobo certainly leans into styling.

The exterior is distinguished by a special grill up front, which includes a segmented light bar and a gloss-black mesh lower apron.

The aggressive detailing continues across the rest of the truck via a Batman-worthy cowl hood with black-accented hood vents, special Lobo 22-inch gloss-black wheels, dual exhaust tips and upgraded halogen taillights.

But unlike the original Maverick Lobo variant, the new F-150 take on the Lobo package, available on the truck’s STX trim lines, doesn’t include performance-enhancing parts like reworked torque-vectoring rear differentials, upgraded cooling, or a better gearbox.

Instead, the biggest substantive change the F-150 Lobo offers is an updated, lower suspension that drops the bed by 2 inches giving the truck a flatter stance.

Combined with a 10-piece bodywork kit around the bottom of the truck, the F-150 Lobo looks lower than its standard counterparts, though it’s still far from a true lowrider.

It’s also available in five exterior colors: Agate Black Metallic, Atlas Blue Metallic, Carbonized Gray, Oxford White, and Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. However, we don’t have any solid images yet of other versions beyond the Agate Black option shown here.

It’s Still a Potent F-150

Despite the focus on aesthetics, it’s not like the Lobo lacks capabilities.

By default, it’s a SuperCrew model with four full-sized doors. The F-150 Lobo also ships with the same 5.0-liter V8 available for other F-150s as well as an upgraded speed automatic four-wheel-drive system, the latter of which Ford deserves a tiny hat tip for since it otherwise isn’t available in the STX trim.

Taken as a whole, I see the F-150 Lobo as less of a street truck in the purest sense and more of a menacing, city-inspired variant of the most popular truck in America. But everyone’s entitled to brace labels as they see fit.

Frankly, it’s just nice to have more options for an excellent truck.

As much as I love the burley, off-roading-inspired takes on the F-150 out there, they can also seem generic, given how popular that look is within the F-150 upgrading culture these days.

Pricing and Availability

Ford says to expect the Lobo package to go on sale this fall for a cost of $4,695, on top of the base V8, 4WD, SuperCrew STX trim model it requires.

All-in that means the Ford F-150 starts at $59,995. That’s not cheap, but it’s also not an absurd premium when you consider the time and money required to create a similar look via aftermarket sources. And since it’s all straight from the factory, buyers don’t have to worry about violating factory warranties or added protection plans.
