It also happens to be a wonder to behold. Let’s take a look at what makes the TOPO2 MTB so awesome for mountain bikers — and what makes the base model awesome for just about any ambitious adventurer.

Biker’s delight

From the start, the innovative TOPO2’s chassis lends itself to optimizing a rig for mountain and gravel biking: the durable single-piece molded fiberglass body and high-clearance suspension system (23 inches!) are practically the perfect canvas.

On top of this framework, the Escapod team integrated a custom-designed Switchback Hitch, which offers swing-away capability so that — even when it’s loaded with two bikes — you have full galley access to the back of the trailer.

The hitch locks in three positions for stability in motion or at rest.

Even without bikes, the hitch is fully loaded in its way. To support stress-free trailside maintenance and repairs, it boasts a bull bar, RotopaX mount and Feedback Sports Mechanic Clamp.

The hitch also integrates Küat’s new Piston ION E-bike Rack, a super-tough, high-tolerance unit that can transport a pair of e-bikes up to 80 pounds and is rated for RV use.

Rounding out the bike-specific features is an element I can’t stop drooling over.

Of course, none of that would matter if the camper itself weren’t simultaneously rugged, modern and comfortable — all of which it appears to be.

The TOPO2 boasts an insulated and heated design to optimize climate control and protect a 21-gallon water system and lithium batteries from cold temperatures and freezing.

The unit also offers an outdoor shower — for hosing off both humans and bikes — plus a gallery complete with a full kitchen, stove and fridge or cooler, plus room for food prep and serving gear.
