Back in September 2022, Jeep unveiled concept versions of its first electric vehicles as part of its 4xe Day celebrations. Much hullabaloo was made about the Recon EV, which promises to bring Wrangler-like traits like a removable top to the electric SUV market. But the other big EV news was one of a different tack with the Wagoneer S. While the name may suggest it will be a 3-row luxury SUV like the gas-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, it actually seems poised to be a two-row, street-oriented performance crossover.

Here’s what we know about the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S so far, which is set to officially

According to Andrew J. Hawkins at The Verge, Jeep has announced it will fully reveal the Wagoneer S on May 30th in New York City. Jeep has also apparently shared that it will use the event to unveil and discuss new features related to the vehicle’s all-terrain chops and performance. Given how relatively close that is, we fully expect at least some details to leak out over the coming weeks as the official unveiling date approaches.

Jeep has revealed several images of the production Wagoneer S. It bears a strong resemblance to the original Wagoneer S concept. The Wagoneer S’s face looks wide and low (at least, for a Jeep), with a vaguely Lucid-meets-Grand Cherokee countenance. An illuminated version of the brand’s famous seven-slot grille sits below the rapidly-becoming-EV-ubiquitous LED light strip running across the bow.

Interestingly, the Wagoneer S has Jeep branding on it while the combustion Wagoneers do not.

Jeep has made two interesting branding decisions with the Wagoneer S. The brand decided to use the Wagoneer S name after all, after insisting it was a placeholder when the concept launched. The brand is also openly calling it the Jeep Wagoneer S. And unlike the combustion Wagoneer SUVs, it openly has Jeep branding on the tailgate.

Jeep has confirmed the Wagoneer S will be offered solely as an electric vehicle, estimating it will offer a top range of 400 miles on a single charge. But this Jeep will also be unique in another way: it should fill the role left empty by the dearly departed Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk models as a truly sporty SUV.

The Wagoneer S will pack around 600 horsepower, according to Jeep, and deliver a 0-60 mph dash of 3.5 seconds, which would put it about on par with the old Hellcat-powered Trackhawk. Jeep also says it will have standard 4×4 capability, of course, and come with a terrain management system, thus ensuring it won’t embarrass itself off-road.

According to Motor Trend, the Wagoneer S will be a smaller midsize counterpart to the Wagoneer and take on rivals like the Range Rover Sport. An all-electric version of the full-size Grand Wagoneer will likely arrive down the road, after the upcoming 4xe plug-in hybrid variant.

Jeep revealed the first picture of the Wagoneer S interior in late January 2024. The photo looks through the dual-pane sunroof, which will be standard. Jeep has also confirmed it will follow the lead of the brand’s other SUVs and offer a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system.

In its January 2024 announcement, Jeep said the Wagoneer S — which it described as “its first global battery-electric vehicle” — will go on sale in the United States in the fall of 2024, before expanding to “key markets around the world” after that.

Jeep’s first electric SUV is poised to be a two-row, street-oriented performance crossover. But it’s still very much a Jeep. Expect 4×4 capability and a terrain management system that ensures it won’t embarrass itself off-road.
