The niche Italian supercar known as the Evantra impressed us when it launched two years ago boasting a flat six engine with 600 horsepower in the turbo model and a 0-60 time of around three and-a-half seconds. But that’s nothing compared to the 2013 7.0-liter V8 Mazzanti Evantra, which billows out a kidney-crushing 700 horsepower and 624 lb-ft of torque. That wretched excess under the hood naturally makes the new beast quicker off the line; it goes from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds.
The already voluptuous exterior has been enhanced with an updated rear spoiler and 20-inch wheels, while a specially developed transmission from Sila sends power to the rear wheels faster than Adrian Peterson down the sideline via a paddle-shift-operated direct shift gearbox. Brembo brakes are the only thing stopping a lead foot’s aspirations of becoming the world’s first mobile particle accelerator if the new Bosch infotainment system, racing-style instrument cluster and an “infinite” number of cabin material choices don’t distract drivers from hitting the gas to begin with. Price is anyone’s guess at this point, but considering only five will be made, start saving your cappuccino money now.
