Believe It or Not, This Is the Craziest Porsche 911 We’ve Ever Seen, And It’s Up for Sale

Don’t judge this book by its cover.

At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly unusual about this Porsche 911. It is, after all, a white 2008 911 Carrera S; hell, you can find almost two dozen cars for sale across America that match that description on Cars.com right now.

None of those cars, however, have the driver’s seat in the center of the car.

Yes, much like the fabled McLaren F1, this Porsche 911 Carrera S happens to put its driver smack dab between the left and right doors, giving him or her an ideal driving position (and a ton of elbow room). Unlike the McLaren F1, of course, this isn’t how the car came from the factory; according to its Bring a Trailer listing, it was converted to 1+2 seating by Trinity Motorsports Group of Lima, Ohio sometime before the current owner picked it up.

The dashboard had to be completely replaced with a custom carbon fiber-and-leather job (though the classic Porsche instrument panel remains), and a new center console was fabricated to hold the infotainment and relocated shifter for the six-speed manual. A Cobra bucket seat with five-point harness hold you steady should you start freaking about being in the middle of the car.

As you might expect of a car whose owner was willing to go to the lengths of moving the driver’s seat two feet to the right, the spec is different from the average Porsche 911. The front splitter and rear wing are Porsche parts, part of the Aerokit; Porsche Active Suspension Management and the Sport Chrono pack burnish the performance cred a bit, the former improved by aftermarket front and rear strut bars. A titanium exhaust and Evolution Motorsports V-Flow intake system help the 3.8-liter flat-six breathe and sound better. And, perhaps thankfully, there’s an integrated radar detector.

Right now, the bidding for this modified 911 currently sits at $19,500, but there’s still four days left in the auction, so expect that to climb. If you want a Porsche like none other at your local Cars and Coffee and don’t feel like waiting for one of those new rally-ready ones coming down the pike…we’d say get your bid in now.
