2012 was a banner year for cars here at Gear Patrol. We tested our mettle in the driver’s seats of some great automobiles: Lamborghinis, Porsches, Bentleys, Jaguars, BMWs, Audis, Mercedes and Land Rovers, just to name a few. From the streets of Chicago and L.A., to the tracks of Las Vegas, the mountains of Colorado, the roadways of New England and the historied town of Le Mans — we took it all in Behind The Wheel of some of the best. 2013 should prove to be even better, as a slew of new cars beckon us to be experienced. So, as we gird our automotive loins, check out our wish list — whose tires we’d like to burn in 2013.
1. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

We can dream, right? Ferrari’s replacement for the monstrous 599 is this FF-inspired grand tourer that, by all accounts, should prove to be one of the finest cars on the road. The front-mounted V12 with a ridiculously awesome 730 horsepower and that famous Ferrari handling have us chomping at the bit to get behind this snorting cavallino.
2. Mercedes Benz A-Class

We were never fans of the previous Europe-only A-Class, largely for its less-than-thrilling tiny minivan looks. All that’s changed with the new stateside-bound A-Class. It comes in 5-door and CLC sedan format; both versions are positively stunning. Let’s hope their nimble platform makes them as good to drive as they are to look at.
