The Suzuki Jimny is a boxy, well-regarded little SUV. It’s award-winning, supremely capable — and, sadly, not sold in the United States. It’s also a rather basic car, which makes it a great blank canvas for Japanese tuners to have a little fun with.
Wald International’s Black Bison Edition is a particular Gear Patrol favorite, but hardly the only one: Top Gear recently found this beauty from the Japanese company DAMD. Called the “Jimny Dronco,” it’s a Jimny styled like a classic Ford Bronco.
This de facto Baby Bronco is painted in pastel blue, with white steel rims and bumpers. It even incorporates a rear step ladder, though anyone over six feet tall can probably just hop onto the roof like they were getting out of a pool.
This Ford Bronco-inspired Suzuki isn’t the first time the tuner has played around with this compact off-roader’s looks. DAMD has previously produced “Little G” and “Little D” versions of the Jimny, styled like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Land Rover Defender, respectively, that made the rounds last year. Here’s hoping there’s a Jeep Wrangler version on tap for 2021.
