These Were the Most Expensive Cars Sold on eBay Last Year

Spoiler alert: One brand dominated the list.

While there are plenty of great places to buy and sell used cars on the Internet these days, eBay Motors remains one of the biggest online retailers for automobile transactions. And while sites like Bring a Trailer, DuPont Registry and JamesEdition may tend to draw higher-end clients, eBay’s auto marketplace still hosts plenty of premium car sales.

Need proof? As part of the online sales and auction site’s 2019 retrospective, eBay pulled together a list of the most expensive cars sold on the site between January 1st and December 6th of last year. Somewhat surprisingly — or perhaps not — the list was dominated by a single brand: Lamborghini, which occupied three of the five slots on the list.

That said, while cars made up a commanding majority (12) of the 20 biggest-ticket purchases on eBay last year, they weren’t the priciest items that traded hands via the website. One wealthy soul paid $4,567,888 for the chance to have lunch with an even wealthier soul: Warren Buffett. (The money went to the charitable foundation GLIDE, for what it’s worth.) The priciest physical item to change hands? An autographed Tom Brady trading card from the year 2000, which sold for $400,100.
