The Unicorn of Porsche SUVs Is Yours for the Taking

It’s a Porsche Cayenne with a naturally-aspirated V8 and a manual transmission. You know you want it.

Hard as it may be to believe, but not all that long ago, Porsche sold the Cayenne with a manual transmission. Most of those stick-shift Cayennes were base models powered by a comparatively wimpy V6, but a handful of them from the car’s first generation were far more entertaining: the brawny, V8-powered Cayenne GTS models. And now, a particularly arresting one of those unicorn Cayennes has surfaced on Bring a Trailer.

The 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS seen here has just over 113,000 miles on the clock, and comes coated in Marine Blue Metallic paint; combined with the 21-inch Sportplus alloy rims, it gives this SUV a vague resemblance to a VW Golf R or R32. The Havanna Beige leather on the seats looks to have seen quite a few butts over the years and the shift knob has seen better days, but apart from that wear, the interior looks fairly solid. The 4.8-liter naturally-aspirated V8 cranked out 405 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when the car rolled out of the factory, and given how good this car’s engine looks, there’s no reason to doubt that it still makes all that grunt.

The CarFax came back clean on this Cayenne, with three owners reporting zero accidents between them. Recent maintenance includes a new clutch, flywheel, and driveshaft, a new starter, new water, fuel and vacuum pumps, a new thermostat, new front upper and lower control arms; the fluids have been changed, and the spark plugs swapped out as well.

The auction still has six days left to go, so it seems safe to assume the dollar figure next to this car’s name will keep on climbing. Past stick-shift Cayenne GTSs on BaT have gone for between $21,000 and $37,000, for what it’s worth, so if you’re interested in taking this blue baby home, expect to fork over something in that range. You might have to fight us for it, though.
